Taking an image, freezing a moment, reveals how rich reality truly is.”

Last year we caught up with the talented photographer/graphic designer Paavo Shooya at the launch of his amazing art exhibition that was on display at restaurant Le Bonne Table (FNCC). His photographs are filled with a great depth of feeling and what seems to be secrets about secrets. Rich in emotion and silent energy. Get to know Paavo in this short interview.

AM Photography?

Am photography was started about 9 months ago, Our aim is to get world recognition for the Namibian photography sector, it’s owned by young people who are passionate about photography.

What was your favourite shoot ever?

They are quite a lot… I am more impressed by others work than my own. Because my own work, doesn’t really surprise me. But I like most of them, anything you pick up on our social network page is my favourite.

Describe your ultimate model/client?

Wow, hmmm i don’t know… Depends on the type of picture I want to achieve, weather it a fashion shoot, fine arts, sports, so i can’t really say who my ultimate model is, anyone can be my ultimate model.

What’s the worst type of model/client to work with?

Bad mannered, bossy, grumpy people.

Your favourite scene/set for a shoot?

Studio I guess, it’s a constant lighting environment.

Who and/or what would you like to capture one day?

Anything interesting, really. I will be willing to capture it.

What are you looking forward to this year?

Growing and getting more exposure worldwide.

How do you feel about nude photography?

It’s beautiful… it allows us to see depth in natural human beauty, allowing us not to appreciate the clothes but the body.

 Gray-scale photography?

I feel like Gray-scale is really interesting because it widens the bridge between the subject and the viewer, and more depth.
