The first time we visited Danny Shikwambi’s Instagram handle we were amazed and no we aren’t making reference to his well build physique or okay maybe just a little (a whole lot).

This month’s Model Update edition we speak to the young man who hails all the way from Walvis Bay, popularly known as DannyK in the Namibian modeling industry.

Danny is a young success-hungry opportunist, raised by a Ndonga speaking single mother and entrepreneur, who describes himself as a clown.

I have a bubbly personality and try out most best to always be and remain positive, regardless.

He has been in the game since 2016, when first walked the runway for Melissa Poulton at the Windhoek Fashion Week.

How would you describe the color brown to someone who is color blind?

Woah… I would say think of a color close to black that is one the most celebrated in today’s society.

How do you balance work, modeling and life?

I am currently pursuing my Bachelors of Marketing at Nust. Balancing all of that is not the easiest job hey. But what gets me going besides the drive is PRIORITISING.

I have a vision board for each month that I draft on my phone, including upcoming projects and school work. So that helps me set time accordingly and avoid clashes.

What have you been busy with?

I’ve been busy trying to push the Danny Shikwambi brand. It wouldn’t be a secret anymore if I told y’all so just stay tuned haha.

What are your expectations for the modeling industry in the next 10+- years?

I must say the modeling industry is growing. It is not where we want it to be but yet it will surely get there with time. In the next ten years I expect the industry to be ten times better. I expect our models to be on the billboards of our shops and on international runways. The industry must stop signing models just to botch them off what they’re making- it’s not fair.

If they made a movie about your life, who would play you and why?

Haha good one! If Viola Davis was a man – she would definitely get the gig. I mean look at her, a black women that does not take no for an answer. She’s so expressive and always on it.

This month our Issue is all things men, what are the best traits Namibian MEN possess compared to other male counterparts around the world?

Originality! Namibian men never try to be something or someone else. They embrace their culture most of the time, just with a dash of western influences – and don’t forget the beard too.
