The awkward firsts, where we now have to shake hands and make small talk to find out whether we really have anything in common to launch an equally enjoyable conversation. Firsts are all but entirely awkward, yet can be somewhat enjoyable. It leaves an opportunity for you to either reinvent yourself, go on a journey of discovery with this other person or simply allowing you to revisit the areas of your life that make up who you are. Many a times I can ease through firsts, but I must admit, this particular first is different, because I have wanted it for so long. It leaves little room to get it wrong, yet getting it right is entirely dependent on you. Yes you, the reader. The one who gets to meet me on the opposite page of this post and can make a decision to either love it, or hate it. No pressure, right? Wrong!

This serves as my first and pleasure to meet you post. Monochrome Magazine decided to avail me a chance to do what I love second to love, writing. The passion that goes behind painting pictures with words and going on a self-discovery journey. This Mono & Me – Engineering Mavis journey promises to be enticing, heart-wrenchingly beautiful and fun. The fundamental core and foundation will be built on three things;

  1. Self-Love: I do not mean being single and learning to dine alone and loving on yourself. I mean finding the core of yourself and loving it more than anyone could ever. Self-love is the foundation to all love, whether received or given.

    “How can anyone love you right, when you do not know what that looks like?”

  2. Self-Discovery: The journey to self-discovery and loving what you find at the end of the tunnel. Stepping out of your element to find the missing pieces to the puzzle. The areas that still puzzle you about your character. This is achieved by doing things differently, doing the things that you fear and allowing yourself to live everyday as though it is your last. Cliché much, yes! Simply because it works.

    “The real you lays at the end of the things that bind you with fear.”

  3. Self-Enrichment: Applying the methods that have long since been tested to enrich your life. Be it in mentorship, entrepreneurship or ever-day-ship (it’s an actual thing).

    “It’s not that we do not know the recipe to success, it that “what if” crippler that disables us”.

The three elements that will be focal points in this blog are not to say that it shall be an I preach and you listen type set-up. No, it simply means sharing on past experience. The things that have worked and the things that have not. I do not have life figured out such that I can deem myself a philosopher, rather I know the areas I most need to work on, and I have gone about finding the remedies for the said areas and I shall share on the experiences that led to the discovery.

I look forward to sharing with you. Please feel free to comment below, and we can have open dialogues about what you most want addressed.

With a tad bit of crazy

Love,

Mavis  (@MavisBraga)
