Hi Guys,

Sundays have become such an exciting day for me to look forward to. Instead of sleeping in, I wake  up and try to use the day to its fullest potential. Finding inspiration, exploring my surroundings, getting new perspective on things around me.

So since it is my birthday month, I have decided to embark on anything my mind and heart desires to do and adding a little personality to my oversized denim jacket is my first of many to come I guess. Adding appliques  or *light bulb moment, a map of my country, Namibia. Wooooooo, excited much?

So I called Ndako. Really talented guy. Think I’m lying?, check out his Instagram page @ndako_nghipandulwa,  he does it all. Portraits, water paintings, wood carvings and and his famous work by far, his nail art. He basically just takes nails and hammers them onto a cardboard. This would normally go on for a week and next thing you see, is someone’s face. The WOW on my face every time I see his work. Catch his next art exhibition on 25 August 2017 at the National Independence Memorial Museum Restaurant.

Anyway, let’s get into how we made this in just 45 minutes.

Step 1: You’d need: Oversized denim jacket, fabric, print out of the Namibian map, hot glue gun, a ruler, a pen or pencil and a pair of scissors.

Step 2: Take your print out of the Namibian map and start to draw grids. The grid will act as a guideline for when you in large your map into the size you desire and for when you start to draw.

Step 3: Once you have finished your grid you should now be able to measure how big you want your map to be. It’s easy really, just take the interval distance between every block and multiply by the actual distance you have measured on your jacket he said. *rolls eyes.

Step 4: Time to draw your map onto the fabric. He took less than 10 minutes here. Talent I say, talent.

Step 5: Cut out the map and place it onto your jacket to see whether there are some adjustments that need to be made.

Step 6: Take your hot glue gun and start to glue the cutout fabric onto your jacket. You need to be very carefull because the glue is hot and you should try to be precise because once its on theres no turning back from that point *lol.

It is as simple as 1, 2, 3 but in actual sense, Step1 to 6.

Check out how  I’m stunting my revamped baby.

Until next Sunday.  :*
