This month we look at synEDGY and their mini collection specifically designed for the Namibian Annual Music Awards 2018 in celebration of the girl child.
Here’s what Simeone Johannes had to say about the inspiration behind it
I took inspiration for the Namibian woman with a go-getter attitude and I wanted to appreciate and validate the role that women play within society. In terms of silhouettes, I leaned more to body hugging dresses that accentuate her hips and curves. My colour scheme ranged from red to play, to some green here and there. The predominant colour is Royal blue, because i wanted to bring forth that princess quality that I see in women everywhere. The collection is mainly designed for the elegant, classy, fashionable woman who’s ready to take over the world and make a statement while doing so. I specifically had women like Odile Gertze, Dillish Matthews, Vaara Hambira, Nangula Nanyemba, Maria Nepembe, Elizabeth Valomboleni and Tanya Daringo when I was designing this mini collection. I am currently working on a full collection that will hopefully be showcased at the Windhoek Fashion Week this year.
