As mentioned, my next few posts will be on Influencer Marketing.

So far we’ve spoken about influencer marketing, what it is and how it works, last week we spoke about creating your influencer brand. Today we speak on how to create your media kit.

So what is a media kit?

No matter the size, a media kit is an essential marketing tool for any Influencer. A media kit is used as a promotional tool to help raise awareness, showcase your previous work and explain your services.

In the blogger realm, a media kit is a document that outlines the key facts and statistics about your blog. Generally, a media kit is given to potential advertisers or brands that you want to collaborate with.

It contains mainly:

  • Your (brand) name
  • Your Blog/YouTube site name/link
  • Key stats and must-know information for your blog and/or social platforms
  • Social Media Handles
  • Services
  • Contact Information

A media kit is basically your influencer/blogger CV. It highlights what your brand is about as well as what you’ve achieved – its goal is to entice potential collaborators to work with you over your peers.

You would attach it to your rate card and they would both have the same look and feel. Which is why it’s important to create a brand identity for yourself and/or your brand.

Include numbers that look great, if it isn’t your followers right now, put your impressions. You can also combine your followers from all platforms you are on, as different people follow you on different platforms. i.e. Add your Instagram, Facebook and Twitter followers to make one sum of followers.

Also, you will need to update it every other month as your stats grow.

NB: Make sure the details on your media kit are correct i.e email and numbers, same goes for the details in your bio etc. Make yourself/brand easily accessible.  (WORK ETHIC!!!)

The media kit is what you’ll be sending to potential brands, clients, PR companies – make sure it represents your brand perfectly.

I’ve created a mock template of how it should look like, more or less, using myself.

Please note: This is 100% fake. (I don’t have a media kit)

It’s important that it looks professional and well put together. Ideally,  a one pager works great, if it’s longer make sure you only add the most recent or the biggest projects. Necessary information only.

Canva has a few templates that are great to use, have a look at their site/app and see if you can create one that you like. Here’s a link to their templates;

My design studio charges N$ 350 to create this for you. You can email BM Design Studio at

That’s it for today guys- our next entry is obviously on the rate card. One of the most difficult areas of building your influencer brand. For this I’ll speak to a few industry people on how you should price your worth and influence.

I hope this was helpful 🙂

Till next Monday,
