8 Questions for Cindy

1.  Describe yourself in three words…

Passionate, honest and curious.

2.  Describe your blog…

It’s a lifestyle blog showcasing everything I’m passionate about – from literature and love to beauty and blogging. I write for the young, bad-ass, fearless feminist (women and men!) who knows what they want in life. Well, at least for the most part 😉

3.  What you want your readers to get from it?

I want my readers to feel like they have a friend out there. That’s it in a nutshell. A friend who can relate to them about acne, about body issues, about love and relationship issues… About everything. I want my readers to know that they’re not alone. That there’s someone out there who gets them.

4.  What are you reading at the moment?

I recently finished Roxane Gay’s amazing collection of short stories, ‘Difficult Women’, and while I’ve technically moved on to Lisa Gardner’s ‘Right Behind You’, my heart and mind is still with Gay’s incredible storytelling. I’m a little bit in limbo, to be honest.

5.  What is the biggest lesson you have learnt this year (so far)?

With regards to blogging, to always work ahead. There have been quite a few times I’ve found myself too busy, too tired or too uninspired to update my blog, and I’m learning to work ahead to help bridge the gap during those times.
With regards to life in general, the biggest lesson I’ve learnt is this: “If it costs you your peace, it’s too expensive”. I’m not sure who the original author of that line is, but I have it up by my desk. And it’s proving to be more and more true every day.

6.  Where do you garner inspiration?

Instagram and Pinterest. I’m a visual being and I love ‘stealing like an artist’ from other bloggers. I have a folder titled ‘Inspo’ on my phone that helps when I’m running a little low on creativity. I love looking at what other creatives are doing and applying it to my life, to see how I can ‘make it mine’.

7.  Favourite quote/set of words?

This year, I keep coming back to Elsie de Wolfe’s “I’m going to make everything around me beautiful – that will be my life”. Sweet,
short and simple.
I’m going to make everything around me beautiful – that will be my life – Elsie de Wolfe

8.  Who are you crushing on right now?

I have a massive writers’ jones for Roxane Gay at the moment. She’s absolutely brilliant and has this really dry sense of humour that I enjoy. She has an incredibly long list of works under her belt, her productivity over the years really inspires me.
On the local front, I’m crushing (creatively, lol!) on photographer/creative Martin Amushendje. He has a really good eye and I love his work. And he’s easy on the eye too. It’s a win-win, really.
