Blings and Charms is a Jewellery business that specializes in custom-made jewellery and seasonal jewellery collections. The business was launched in March 2021 and has since then, made a name of its own.
Hertha (Mary) Andreas, a 22-year-old Cyber Security graduate and jeweler, is the sole owner of Blings and Charms. Aside from her passion for technology, she wanted to explore her creativity and have something to call her own, whilst monetizing from it. This desire is what ultimately led her to starting a business and becoming an entrepreneur.
Mary describes her journey as one where you learn as you grow. “Like everything else in life, it has been a roller-coaster ride, however most of it has been amazing.” For instance, customer interaction requires a variety of soft skills such as: emotional intelligence, adaptability and active listening to mention a few. In the same breath, maintenance of business ideals is crucial to ensuring that business terms and processes are followed.
What’s your favourite part about being an entrepreneur?
“The best part of being an entrepreneur is the knowledge you gain. I have developed so many skills, from basic graphic design to understanding social media algorithms, and learning how to communicate with people from all walks of life. I have acquired so much confidence in myself and what I can accomplish.”
One of Blings and Charms notable highs, is that they always manage to sell out their seasonal collections. However, no company is picture perfect, and they sometimes experience delays during shipping or item production, but always ensure to communicate with their customers and give them a heads up.
How was registration with BIPA (Business and Intellectual Property Authority) & how important is it that a small business register with BIPA?
It was quick and easy and poses as an advantage when aiming to attract investors. Its important because it allows clients to trust the legitimacy of the business.
Blings and Charms has garnered over 6000 followers on Instagram, whilst being operational for just over a year and have managed to earn loyal customers, who they consider to be family. Customer feedback has been and continues to be majorly positive, with their quality ranging from 925 sterling silver to 18K gold plated jewellery.
