Monochrome Magazine would like to introduce the dress like a celebrity for a week challenge. For the first challenge we chose the beautiful style icon known as Beyonce’s little sister Solange Knowles. The singer-songwriter/DJ/model/mother definitely has her own style. Fearless when it comes to colour and print she always adds her own unique twist to every look. So 21 year old radio personality/actress, media and drama student Felicia Mutonga took up the challenge, well, not so much because she is already a big fan of Solange and sometimes adds that bohemian chic in her everyday style.
FIRST LOOK: Solange out on the town/ Street style
When you think of head-wraps, the first celeb that pulls it off that comes to mind is SOLANGE!. She’s a woman of statement when it comes to an outfit. So with street I kept it very Solange..Bohemian,Free,edgy with a touch of headwraps as a statement piece. The weird part is, IT’S RARE TO SEE SOLANGE WITH AN ALL BLACK OUTFIT, SHE LOVES COLOUR! In the first image of me I did a DIY and turned my floral maxi skirt, pulled it up into a boob-tube dress and added a head-wrap just to add colour,because colour is Solange! And the white dress give it that Solange Bohemian feel. -Felicia
SECOND LOOK: Solange hosting an event (Day time)
I decided to play around with a dashiki african print mini because Solange is one woman who loves her African Prints. She loves playing around with patterns and colour to make an outfit playful. She’s also known to be a woman who loves Natural looks, so my braids added to the Solange look (She too is a woman who loves her braids), and the fedora was just to give it a playful feel.
THIRD LOOK: Solange at Fashion Week (Evening show)
With Solange, a big part of her fashion screams VINTAGE,EDGY,CLASSY & BOHEMIAN!, So I went with an 80’s turtle neck vintage shirt as my statement piece, adding on to my black wide-leg silhouette pants to give it that simple vintage, but still classy look. Definitely a fashion show outfit,and definitely Solange!
FIFTH LOOK: Solange at a music festival (Daytime)
Went for this look cos yet again,”ensembles,ensembles,ensembles”, that is Solange for you,only thing is mine is plain white but it would have done justice with a complete look if it had prints on or a colour away from white,with an addition of vintage shades…Shoes I went for platform cos Solange loves her platforms and the braids adds up to her look.
