Afro

Sourced

If you haven’t noticed, the afro is having a style moment. It’s hard to pin down exactly what’s behind the resurgence of a classic haircut, but we are loving it. As women embrace their natural curls and coils, their men are right alongside them, letting their mane grow wild. When you think about it, the afro came back right on time. It fits into today’s social, political and cultural space which is revisiting themes from an era when the afro was pervasive. With so many cool ways to style afro haircuts – short, long and curly – men have a lot of options when it comes to creating a dope look.

Beard

We’ve seen Gazza in a full beard lately, and witnessed Prince Harry get married exhibiting his beard and honestly, both these gentlemen make beard look stylish and current.  So the questions is not whether to grow a beard or not, the real question is which beard to grow. Men have an array of beard styles to choose from,   starting with stubble to a full on grizzly beard. Although corporate guys are more inclined to go for a clean cut, minimal beard while entrepreneurs have more leeway and can grow their beards out fully, there are no rules in this game. Each man has his own ideology on which beard suits him best.

Chill Fade

“A combination of two classics, this style is both modern and versatile. It’s a great cut that can be tailored to suit both your office look and personal lifestyle.” We’ve seen mega stars like The Weekend embrace this style and he is making it look good. Although the 2018 version of this classic look is more wild and unkempt, compared to previous versions on this look. We are loving the natural and effortless vibe of this style.

Technicolor

From blue and pink to neon orange, we’ve seen every color in the rainbow this year. Men are embracing their risk-taking tendencies and applying them to their haircare routines. Colour is big for both men and women in 2018. Although we are still seeing this style reserved for the more artistic types such as musicians, poets and artists, we hope the corporate guys embrace their artistic, youthful side and dare to try a fun color, even if it’s just for the holidays.

Dreads

When the villain of Wakanda is donning dreads, then you know he is bad a$$. Dreads are going mainstream, with more men requesting this popular trend in barbershops. Also known as locs, dreadlocks epitomize a free, independent, and bohemian lifestyle. We are seeing more corporate guys take this look into boardrooms and the golf club. And while the haircut is usually worn by black men, guys of all races have embraced the look. From short to long, black to blonde, and straight to braided, men’s dreads come in many unique shapes, sizes, and designs.
