Hoevember hosted by Lioness, is an annual celebration of women, gender non-confirming individuals and people under the LGBTQI+ community. It is an event curated to celebrate ones authenticity and foster an environment of safety and security for all attendees.
This year’s Hoevember took place on the 26th of November 2022, at the MYNT lounge & nightclub. The event was sponsored by the Voices for Choices and Rights Coalition, Feminist Festival Namibia, #ShutItAlDownNamibia and Annabel Champagne. The theme was disco and the attendees made sure to show up and show out! The Dj line-up consisted of Dj Ira, Roxy, Alba Nalo and Rise Elders with performances by Bupe Evie and Ori.
As attendees arrived, welcoming drinks of Annabelle champagne were offered, whilst being greeted by flashing lights, colours and music. Everyone looked like they were ready for the disco of their lives and it was a party like no other. Performances ranged from pole dancing to a sultry showcase by Bupe Evie and the sounds of Ori’s sonic voice. The crowd was then graced with the presence of the one and only Lioness, the hostess of Hoevember.
The event was a showstopper from the beginning until the end. Everyone was dancing, the Dj’s were on fire, there was an air of safety and everyone was simply having a good time. Which is ultimately the aim of Hoevember;
To create a space where women and people of the LGBTQI+ community are welcome to feel safe and enjoy their time out without fear of prejudice, judgement or assault.
