Now if it’s one thing we at Monochrome are about is the vigorous support for Namibian brands. The latest addition to the Namibian industry is the Gweri Socks by Gweri Vintage Collection. Socks are one of the oldest forms of clothing dated from 300-500 AD which were made by using a special knitting technique (naalbiding) in Ancient Egypt.

The word Gweri is depicted from the term Guerrilla which means warrior.  I wanted a brand that portrayed warriorship which is why I called it GWERI VINTAGE COLLECTION –Shikulo (Zulu) Pinehas.

The Geri sock collection hails its inspiration from Namibia’s landscapes and people. Zulu wanted to tell stories on how we live by incorporating them in the socks. Making them more than just socks on your feet, it’s our story, the Namibian story that you carry with you everywhere you go.

His socks compelled one’s attention without losing one’s respect – Hector Hugh Munro

Namibia takes pride in providing products that scream quality to the world, be it our Beer or Biltong.  This is also just another Namibian product alongside all the great products to have come out of this African country with a population of under 3million.

What makes a pair of socks exciting, GweriSocks to be precise? Is it the patterns/shapes on the socks, the colour or the length?

GweriSocks came out with 2 distinct unisex designs that speak to the Namibian people, namely the Namibian Dotted socks and The Delela.

The Namibian Dotted socks portray all the colours of the Namibian national flag, which displays a great presentation of patriotism embedded in socks. The Namibian Gweri dotted socks can also be classified as happy socks as their bright distinct colours which spread a little bit of happiness.

The Odelela socks come in stripes of different sizes and three colours. The Odelela material is associated with the Aawambo tribe of Namibia. The material with Finnish origin has gradually been adopted into the modern day Aawambo traditional attire.

Even though it would be great to watch Game of Thrones with my Gweri Socks, for you know…  WINTER IS COMING! We do not have to wait till 2019’s winter to rock them. You can get yours right now! Yes,  we are painting the country with our Gweri Socks, this summer.

We at Monochrome can hardly contain our growing anticipation for the new Gweri Socks design.
