The Mono Team shares…

Emily Kandanga – Mono Health & Fitness

A celebration of the most beautiful, powerful, selfless, bold, hardworking women in my life.

Njekwa Mwamba – Etiquette

Let me start by admitting that Mother’s Day as we know it today has become very commercialized. That does not take away from the importance of honoring our mothers and motherhood in general. Personally, it’s a day I consciously set aside to honor mothers and the journey of motherhood. I try as much as possible to show my appreciation to my mother as often as I can so I generally don’t wait till Mother’s Day. But there’s something about the buzz and the amazingly touching messages that go around on this day that make it super special and emotional.

Being surrounded by strong black women in my life has taught me to value myself as a woman more than ever before. My mother being widowed young at 37 years of age means I was raised by a single, highly motivated and driven woman who wants nothing but the best for her 5 children. I celebrate  Mother’s day in remembrance of the hard work she continues to put in to make our lives the best it can be to date. So, to all mothers out there, A Happy F*n awesome Mother’s Day

Paulina Mbago – Mono Beauty

Mother’s day is about celebrating all the sacrifices a mother undertakes for her family. Oftentimes, a mother has to give up her own happiness for the sake of her children and husband, but those are sacrifices  she is happy to make. So mother’s day is about honoring her and reminding her that she is loved.

Betty Sibeso – Editorial Director

Mother’s Day to me is an emotional field day as I lost my mom ten years ago. But it’s also a day I appreciate all the women who have contributed to my life after my mom’s death. The women who have loved, nurtured, guided me since. From my friends/peers/acquaintances to my aunts and friends of my mom. It’s heart wrecking that I can’t share the day with my mom but it’s also nice to know, love and be loved by these women in my life.
