In my favorite book “Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert, the main character reaches a cross road in her life and battles with many issues but the biggest of them all happens to be the same as what I am writing about today – Balance.

Keep grounded, so it is as if you have four legs.

That way, you can stay in this world.

Also, no looking at the world through your head.

Look through your heart, instead.

That way, you will know God.

~Ketut Liyer (From the book, Eat, Pray, Love)

The past four weeks I have been battling to stay afloat.  Mentally, Physically and Emotionally.

Seems there is just not enough time to be a productive employee, a present mother, a dedicated student, a loving sister, a caring aunt and a supportive friend. I did not even get to mention a relationship. I tip my hat to those of you who handle that too on a daily basis.  So many things to juggle but how?

I find an utter revulsion in clutter, whether it is in my life, in my cupboards at home or around me, wherever I am.  Clutter suffocates me thus as you can think, I am a painstakingly very, very OCD and organized – and that does not go very well with a toddler.  If I am surrounded by clutter, I feel disconnected from myself. Thus, I made the decision to divorce my Facebook account a few months ago. (I regarded it as clutter). Nothing happens there anyway.

The divorce lasted for 8months and…

I did not long for it, I did not have any interest in it, and I really did not pine for it one bit. The time I used to scroll around on FB, I then used it to write, to read, to spend more time with my son and to go to the gym.

I have an urgent need to divorce myself from WhatsApp as well. Life was so much easier without all these platforms and phones. So, why am I telling you all of this? Well, part of these decisions were made in order to maintain balance in my life. I have realized the past couple of weeks that balance is very, very important. Too much of one thing can also not be good.

So the other night, I felt extremely anxious, because it felt as if I am about to drop one of the gazillion balls I am juggling, and I asked my friends via my Insta Story, how does one keep the balance, is there anyone out there that was willing to share some tips? Funny enough, I got a few DM’s asking me, if I got any tips, I should please share them or I should share what works for me. So if there is someone out there that is struggling to maintain some sort of healthy balance here goes. Please do take note that what works for me, might not work for you and it is a work in progress, however every day I wake up, I brush myself off and I try again.

Here are a few of my tips, in no chronological order:

  • Get enough sleep,
  • Take some vitamins – I use Biostrath, Vitathion/Bioplus, Zinplex, Evening Primrose Oil and Vitamin D,
  • Pray, Pray, Pray, Pray – I cannot say this enough, pray while driving to work, pray while sitting in your office, pray and talk to God, call out his name, when you feel weak and burdened, just call out his name, if you do not know what to say,
  • Eat three meals a day – Healthy Meals (try to avoid sugar and carbs, but once a week you can squeeze in a cheat meal), (Try and do the snack thing too, twice a day off course healthy snacks),
  • Drink water, 3liters and more per day – it flatters your skin,
  • Do what you love, at least once a week. If you not loving what you do currently, I am sorry. I love writing and I try to do it more than once a week,
  • Try to get some exercise; 3 times a week if you can, it is a wonderful conduit to relieve tension and stress, and that sluggish, permanently tired feeling will vanish, trust me,
  • Take some me time, away from all your responsibilities,
  • Feed your focus, but first ask yourself, what is your focus?
  • If you are lucky to have a partner/lover, (whatever you want to call it), have date night once a week – very very important! PS: And have as much SEX as possible. It releases all the feel good hormones, you need. (Wink)
  • If you don’t have a partner, have date night with yourself,
  • Be good to yourself, don’t be too hard on yourself, life is already such a battle,

Live in the light always,

xoxo
